Harrods Alumni Site – Terms & Conditions

This Harrods Alumni site (the “Site”) is for use by former Harrods employees to keep in touch with Harrods and connections with other Harrods alumni.The Harrods Alumni Site is operated by Harrods Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales (company registration number 30209) whose registered office is at 87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL on its own behalf and on behalf of its subsidiaries and affiliates from time to time (“Harrods”). By using this site, you are agreeing to these Terms & Condition. In these Terms & Condition, ‘we’, ‘us’, and ‘our’ are references to Harrods and ‘alumnus’, 'you', 'your', 'yours' are references to a former Harrods employee.

Registration for the Harrods Alumni site is available only to Harrods alumni. If you no longer wish to us ethe Site, you may deactivate your account in your account settings. Harrods does however reserve its right at any time and for any reason whatsoever to close down the Site, to disable or refuse registration or access to the Site and/or to amend the eligibility criteria and, in particular, will terminate your usage of the Site if we consider (in our absolute discretion) that you have breached these Terms & Conditions. If you are not an alumnus, you must not attempt to registration or use of the Site and, if a non-alumnus does so, their use of the site will be immediately terminated. You must treat your username and password as confidential. You are solely responsible for the use of the Site by any person using your username and password. It is your responsibility to prevent unauthorised access to your account and you must inform us immediately of any unauthorised access to or use of the Site using your access credentials. 

Once you have registered, the Site allows you to create your own personal profile and to connect with other alumni. In doing so, you shall comply with all applicable laws and shall not defame, harass or abuse alumni (or any other person) or send any inappropriate messages to any alumnus. We shall have no responsibility or liability for any content, communications, actions or decisions which you share, make or have with other alumni. We are not responsible or liable for the content, communications and actions of other alumni.

You shall only disclose information on the Site which you are not permitted to disclose and shall not copy, use or disclose information disclosed by other alumni on the Site (unless expressly permitted to do so). Your content will contain nothing unlawful, untrue, misleading, or which infringes the statutory or common law rights (whether or intellectual property or otherwise) of any third party). The content you add must not include advertising or marketing (whether personally or for another product or company), shall not imply that it is recommended or endorsed by us (unless pre-agreed by us in writing), shall not be harmful to our brand and must be free of viruses or malware. It is in our discretion to determine if the content submitted to the Site meets the requirements of these Terms & Conditions. Whilst we will endeavour to ensure that content loaded onto the Site complies with these Terms & Conditions, we will not be liable for any failure to do so. Please note that we do not verify or approve all content or the opinions of alumni using the Site (nor are we required to).

We may use, store, copy, process and/or distribute your content for the purposes of providing, operating and moderating the Site, for the purposes of us marketing or promoting the Site, for the purposes of data analytics (which will be anonymised where practicable) and in order to comply with any regulatory or legal requirement or order (or any third part intellectual property claim arising in relation to your content). Your personal data (and any personal date included in your content) will be processed by us in accordance with the terms of our Privacy Statement. 

We do not represent or guarantee that the Site, any software used in connection with it or any content on it (including content submitted by users), will meet your requirements, be fit for purpose, or be available at any given time. We do not guarantee that any such software is virus, bug or malware free. You should use your own virus protection software. We may at any time withdraw or update any of the content or functionality of the Site without prior notice.

We may sometimes provide information or links other relevant services, websites or webpages on this Site. Please note that these may be subject to their own terms and conditions, privacy and cookie statements. We provide such links for information purposes only, not by way of an endorsement. You are responsible for deciding if you want to access or use a third party’s website, software or materials that link from our Site. We are not responsible or liable for any such third party content, materials or software.

All rights, title and interest (including all intellectual property rights) in and to the Site are (unless otherwise stated) owned by us or licensed to us. The third party licensor(s) from whom Harrods licences the Site retains all rights, title and interest (including all intellectual property rights) in and to the Site and all of its proprietary technology, products and promotional materials.

These Terms & Conditions incorporate our Privacy Statement and the Cookie Policy.

We may send you communications in connection with the Site from time to time, including for the purpose of notifying you of recent activity on the Site. We may also contact you for marketing purposes if you have opted in to permit us to do. We will send these communications to the email address registered against your account for the Site. You can opt out of receiving communications from us at any time by unsubscribing to email communications in the settings section on the Site

With the exception of any warranties, conditions and representations expressly contained in these Terms & Conditions, all warranties, conditions and representations, whether express, implied or statutory are, excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. You acknowledge and agree that you use the Site and any submit content at your sole risk. Save as expressly set out in these terms, Harrods shall to the fullest extent permitted by law have no liability to you (whether arising in contract, tort, including negligence, or otherwise) in relation to your use (or attempted use) of the Site or in any way in connection with the Site. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions will exclude or limit our liability in relation to fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, personal injury or death caused by our negligence, or any other liability to the extent that it cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Harrods reserves the right to vary these terms from time to time where (in its absolute discretion) it considers it reasonable and necessary to do so. The updated Terms & Conditions shall be available on the Site at all times and will be binding on your future use of the Site from the date on which they are implemented.

These terms & Conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with English law and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales in relation to any matter arising hereunder or herefrom.
